Originally opening in 2016 as a pop-up in Surry Hills, Toko Owner, Matt Yazbek, launched Cubby’s Kitchen in a new home in the Sydney CBD in 2018. The venue name derives from Yazbek’s mother Mouna whose nickname happens to be Cubby and the restaurant is an ode to his family’s heritage. A family affair, having opened the restaurant with his two sisters, they are now joined by long time family friend, NRL star Anthony Watmough.
Serving up traditional Lebanese fare, Cubby’s Kitchen is the ideal spot to share a delicious meal with your family and friends. From succulent lamb kafta with a yoghurt dressing and Lebanese spices, to barramundi with harissa, garlic and sliced almonds. You’ll be so excited by the menu, that you won’t know where to start.
The beverage list also features Lebanese inspired drinks like the Pomegranate Mojito, Araktini, Lebanese Espresso Martini, and also Almaza Beer, imported from Lebanon.
Channelling the traditional favourites with modern and Japanese influences, the chef has applied his Japanese cooking background to create subtle connections in cooking styles and flavours that can be found throughout the menu like the baba ghanoush with eggplant chunks and miso, or the hummus with chilli edamame and chilli oil.
