Originally opening in 2016 as a pop-up in Surry Hills, Toko Owner, Matt Yazbek, launched Cubby’s Kitchen in a new home in the Sydney CBD with his two sisters in 2018. The venue name derives from Yazbek’s mother Mouna whose nickname happens to be Cubby and the restaurant is an ode to their family’s heritage.

Channelling the traditional favourites with modern influences, the chef has applied his knowledge of Lebanese and Japanese food to create subtle connections in cooking styles and flavours that can be found throughout the menu like the baba ghanoush with eggplant chunks and miso, or the hummus with chilli edamame and chilli oil.
